BA CT: Tom Althoff to become Head of TIS
Effective October 1, 2017 Dr. Tom Althoff will take over as Head of Technology, Innovation & Sustainability (TIS) at the Components Technology business area (BA CT). He will succeed Dr. Alexander Gulden, who this year was appointed to the Management Board of the Springs & Stabilizers business unit as Chief Operating Officer (COO). In his new function Mr. Althoff will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BA CT, Dr. Karsten Kroos.
Tom Althoff holds a PhD in mechanical engineering and joins thyssenkrupp from automobile manufacturer BMW, where most recently he was Head of Technical Planning Chassis for all BMW models and vehicle plants worldwide. He started his career at BMW as a developer for chassis control systems and subsequently held several management positions in the areas of vehicle development and manufacture, including the suspension und powertrain mounting development for BMW’s electric vehicle program (BMW i). Later he spent several years as Manager Technical Planning at the BMW plant in Leipzig.
Mr. Althoff was also responsible for various cross-functional product development and lean engineering programs at BMW.
