Change on the Management Board of the Damper business unit

From October 1 John Kuijpers will take over the position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Damper business unit (thyssenkrupp Bilstein). He will succeed Dr. Olaf Gelhausen, who is leaving thyssenkrupp to pursue new professional challenges outside the Group. In his function Mr. Kuijpers will report to the COO of Automotive Technology, Frank Altag. To ensure he can familiarize himself well with the position, Mr. Kuijpers will join the company in mid-August.

John Kuijpers brings with him extensive operating management and board experience. Most recently he spent more than seven years at the automotive supply company Hella where he held various management positions among others in Slovenia, China and Germany, bearing responsibility for a range of product segments, business units and numerous production locations in Europe and Asia. The qualified mechanical engineer began his career in 1988 at the lighting technology manufacturer Philips Lighting. Following project and plant manager positions in the Netherlands and Belgium, he worked for the company from 1997 largely in China and Italy where he held management board positions at various subsidiaries and joint venture companies of the Philips group up to 2012.

We would like to thank Olaf Gelhausen for his work at BU Damper and in the auto segment of thyssenkrupp and wish him all the best for his professional future. We welcome John Kuijpers to Automotive Technology and wish him every success in his new role at BU Damper.
